(Fort McMurray, AB – May 16, 2019) – Regional Emergency Services (RES), with support from Enbridge Pipelines Inc., is launching the sixth season of the Home Fire Safety Program. This year’s program will serve the area of Dickinsfield.

The Home Fire Safety Program is a free initiative delivered by RES that aims to educate residents of potential fire risks and hazards within their homes. The door-to-door service offers free installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms while providing an inspection checklist and identifying any hazards that may exist.

“The Home Fire Safety Program allows RES personnel the opportunity to directly work with residents to ensure they are aware of the potential fire risks in the home while providing them with some of the necessary tools they need to ensure they a prepared in the case of a house fire or carbon monoxide hazard,” says Jody Butz, Regional Fire Chief. “Watch for RES personnel going door to door in Dickinsfield this June, helping residents to keep their homes safe.”

The program launched in May 2012 and has offered home safety inspections in several neighbourhoods throughout Fort McMurray. Since the launch of the program, RES has inspected approximately 1200 homes and installed over 1400 smoke alarms.

Any residents within the Urban Service Area interested in completing a home inspection are encouraged to contact the Pulse Line at 780-743-7000 or toll free at 1-800-972-9663
