SOUR in SWEET – Home? art exhibition now open at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery
(Fort McMurray, AB - February 15, 2019) – The Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery at MacDonald Island Park is pleased to present to the community a new exhibition by local artist Sedef Uzer Prakash titled SOUR in SWEET – Home?
“SOUR in SWEET is about me trying to find home within my heart and brain since I left my home country 20 years ago, I now pour out my sour story in a sweet way with simplistic tools as a method of release,” says Sedef Uzer Prakash. “This exhibition is an invitation to viewers to explore my journey and perspective of my home-country, while trying to find a sense of home within my new surroundings as well as myself.”
Sedef Uzer Prakash is a Turkish graphic artist and curator residing in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Growing up in Istanbul provided Sedef with constant inspiration and she was continually influenced by its bountiful culture. Sedef was always interested in the arts and expressed it through a variety of mediums. For over 13 years, Sedef has worked worldwide as a graphic designer from Istanbul and Dubai to Vancouver and Fort McMurray.
The Opening Reception for the SOUR in SWEET – Home? takes place at 7:30 p.m. on February 22 at the Kirschner Family Community Art Gallery located in the Suncor Community Leisure Centre at MacDonald Island Park. Light refreshments will be served, a cash bar will be available and all community members are invited to attend. TheSOUR in SWEET – Home? exhibition will be available for viewing until March 1.
