Time is running out to register for the Fort McMurray Marathon. Are you ready to run? Lace-up let’s go!
Hundreds of runners will participate in the Fort McMurray Marathon on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Late registration is now open, prospective participants are asked to register quickly to secure their spot on race day. In person registration officially closes September 12 with online registration closing September 9 at 11:59 p.m.
“With over 530 participants registered to date across all distances and the expansion into a full Marathon, this year is bound to be our largest yet. We will be welcoming runners from not only Fort McMurray but across the country to our region and into our trails,” says Kelsey Stefanizyn, Fort McMurray Marathon Chair. “We are beyond thrilled for the support the Marathon has received thus far, and we can’t wait for race day.”
The Fort McMurray Marathon takes place Sunday, September 16, beginning and ending at MacDonald Island Park. The event is composed of 6 distances; ATB Marathon, ATB Half Marathon, ATB 10KM, Noral Toyota 5KM, Inah Nail 3KM and the Inter Pipeline Kids Fun Run. With limited availability in all distances, potential participants are urged to register in advance to secure their spots.
Participants are also encouraged to attend the first Fort McMurray Marathon Runner’s Social taking place Saturday, September 15, in the Shell Place Diamond Ballroom from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a healthy pre-race dinner, meet fellow runners and committee members, pick up race packages and ask pre-race questions.
