The Third Annual Empty Bowls Festival, presented by John Wilson’s Hedco Group Inc., happening this Sunday
The Empty Bowls Festival, presented by John Wilson’s Hedco Group, is happening this Sunday, September 9, in support of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
This family-friendly event is happening at Jubilee Plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Festival goers can purchase locally hand-crafted and painted bowls from the Fort McMurray Potter’s Guild or Color Me Mine Fort McMurray for $20 (kids 12 and under for $10), and with that bowl make their way around the festival, sampling creations from ten different stations hosted by local eateries.
To raise additional funds, 20 celebrity bowls have been created as part of the silent auction, painted by local figures in the community. The funds raised through the silent auction will be given to the Food Bank.
In partnership with Arts Council Wood Buffalo, local artisans will be present to display and demonstrate their live arts and fine crafts, with a portion of sales being donated back to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
“We are so pleased to continue to grow this event over the years, bringing on new partnerships and ideas as we go along,” said Dan Edwards, Executive Director of the Wood Buffalo Food Bank. “Since bringing Color Me Mine onto the project, we were able to create more bowls for admission, following the past two years of selling out quickly, and hope to ensure more people get to enjoy the event. We look forward to another successful year.”
