The giving spirit is in full swing as the Mark Messier Foundation Golf Tournament announces the donation of 50% of the net profit raised to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo’s (RRC) WB Kids program. The event took place on Saturday, July 14, hosted at the Miskanaw Golf Course.

“Being the host venue for a tournament like this is an honour in and of itself, but having the Mark Messier Foundation give back to our WB Kids program means a lot not only for our facility but our community,” says Graig Walsh, CEO of the RRC. “We are very grateful, as this generous contribution will impact the lives of many local youth ensuring they can afford to have fun.”

Funds donated from the tournament will assist WB Kids in its mission to provide financial assistance to support Wood Buffalo youth and families facing barriers to participation in sport, recreation, social and cultural programs and activities.

“Giving back to the Wood Buffalo community through the WB Kids program aligns exactly with the mission we set out on in the creation of the Mark Messier Foundation,” says Mark Messier. “We strive to support, inspire, and empower those in need through sports, healthy living and educations.”

WB Kids provides confidential and timely financial assistance to local youth. Teachers, coaches and community members can nominate kids in need to receive program, activity and/or equipment funding.
