A farewell from Theresa Wells
What a ride!
Those three words are the only way I can capture what an experience it has been to write for YMM since the very first issue. In that time, I have had the chance to write about incredible people, innovative entrepreneurs and amazing initiatives – and every single one of them was found right here in Wood Buffalo.
But all good rides – even the great ones – eventually come to an end. Just as YMM Magazine and Wood Buffalo have changed over the last few years, so have I. And one of those changes has been a decision to end my freelance work to concentrate on some personal writing projects, including a book-in-progress that has been relegated to the back seat for far too long. The working title is “Life in a Northern Town” – you can likely figure out what it’s about on your own ?
But before I sign off for the final time, I want to say thank you. Thank you to Krista, Kerri and the entire YMM Magazine team for the opportunity of a lifetime and the chance to be part of bringing this publication to our region. Thank you to every single person who agreed to be interviewed, picked up the phone when I called to ask them questions and put their faith in me and my ability to showcase them and their stories. And thank you to every single person who read my work – without readers, writers are just words on a page.
I am looking forward to continuing to read the magazine just as I have done with every issue: cover to cover, devouring every story and reveling in the remarkable communities that make up our region. I am so very, very proud to have been one small part of another remarkable story – the success of YMM Magazine.
Thank you for the ride! The most incredible part of the entire experience has been the chance to connect with the people who make this region what it is, and I will be forever grateful to have done so. Thank you for being you, and contributing to make this a place I am always so proud to call home!
Sincerely,
McMurray Musings/Theresa
