Class of 2021
Cass Rhynes and Helen Killorn are a Power Duo in every sense of the term.
Both entrepreneurs – him as the owner of Turning Point Surveys Ltd., and her as the owner of Exhale Yoga & Barre – they both work hard, inspiring others to do the same. They recently chatted with YMM about their careers, risks, advice, and everything in between.
YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career, Helen?
HK: The most rewarding part of what we do at Exhale is watching how our work makes a difference in the lives of others. One class can be life changing for someone, one moment can turn a person’s day around, one conversation with a student could impact their whole perception. The feel good factor of giving back to the community and helping others will never get old, and we will continue to follow our mission of being a safe space for people to come and just be themselves, with no judgement. All are welcome here, to heal, to have fun, to laugh, to cry and to grow.
YMM: Cass, what’s the biggest risk you’ve ever taken?
CR: The biggest risk I ever took was walking away from a successful career to start Turning Point Surveys. There were no guarantees, no clients, no savings, and I had a fiancée and two year old daughter back in Prince Edward Island. I would have never stepped away from my job and leaped into this journey without the encouragement and support from my wife Helen. She was truly the “Turning Point” in my life.
YMM: Helen, how should success be measured?
HK: For me, success is a journey, not a destination. There is no limit to success. Every accomplishment and achievement made by our team is success. Each time we are able to help and give back to our community is success. When just one student finds healing in our space, that is success. Success is never ending and should always be something to strive for.
YMM: What motivates you, Cass?
CR: My family. Providing them with the best life possible, teeing up our daughter with the resources to have a happy, loving and successful life, and making sure Helen and I have a comfortable future together long after our professional lives.
