“My mission is to help families and business owners save money on essential services and to keep the process very simple along the way.”

Malcolm Setter is the CEO of Get Energy, a utility company that provides energy and internet services in the Fort McMurray area.

The business describes itself as a family-owned and Alberta Based service provider that is offering residential and commercial customers affordable electricity and natural gas services.

It has one mission, “to help families and business owners save money on essential services and to keep the process very simple along the way,” states the business’s Facebook page.

Malcolm likes to focus his involvement in the region through volunteering, building relationships and connecting with the community. He is a proud community member who likes to volunteer in the business and political spheres.

Currently, he is the treasurer of two condo boards, and he is on the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s MLA’s board as the VP of Policy. He was also recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce.

When asked how he got started in business, Malcolm admits that a friend joked that he should start a utility company. This was in 2013, and the rest is, as they say, history.

He spent the following year trying to figure out what the industry was all about and what his niche could be in it before finally launching Get Energy. He first began working in Fort McMurray in 2005 and became a full-time resident working and living in 2009.

Malcolm is married to Jenelle Setter and they have two young boys Dexter and Raylan.

Life has changed for the couple in the last decade and they’re passionate about the life they have built and their dedication to entrepreneurship and education. They work together to facilitate events that educate and teach individuals in the community.

Malcolm still enjoys a thrill and is an avid snowboarder and enjoys travelling to the mountains at least once a year from the Wood Buffalo region when he’s not working or busy being a family man. He is also a musician and plays the bass guitar at his church.
