Summer Days and Nights at MacDonald Island Park

In September of 2015 the Miskanaw Golf Club celebrated the completion of an ambitious course redevelopment that created a course that is contemporary, fresh and modern. The 2016 golf season will mark the first full season on the new course, and it is guaranteed to deliver a new experience to both annual members, occasional golfers, tournament players and visitors to the community.

Taking advantage of the beauty of the surrounding boreal forest, golf course designer Robert Kains focused on developing a course that reflects the abundant natural charm of the setting and scenic views. The course is a combination of parkland design and open concept, with water features coming into play on 9 holes. Softly undulating greens contribute to a course that is playable and a test of all the clubs in your golf bag.

"The new course builds on that foundation to create the best possible golf experience in our region."

The Miskanaw Golf Club begins to bustle with activity as soon as warm weather approaches, with players purchasing annual memberships while also checking out all the new gear for the season at the Pro Shop. An active Juniors program, along with classes developed to introduce new players of all ages to both the sport and the course, provides opportunities for a variety of community members to become familiar with golf and enjoy the course regardless of their skill level.

For those playing a round at the course, or for anyone seeking time on the best patio in town, the Fox Den Lounge provides seasonal opportunities to enjoy great food and beverages in a casual, comfortable and unique setting.

Location is everything, and the Fox Den Lounge is in a prime location, looking out over the Miskanaw Golf Club, allowing patrons to watch all the action on the course while enjoying time with friends and family. In 2016 the Fox Den Lounge and patio will receive a facelift designed to evoke the same modern, contemporary feel of the golf course.  New colours, stylish décor and a desire to develop a space that is comfortable and welcoming have guided the refresh of this community favourite.

"Every year the community waits with great anticipation to learn the opening date of the Fox Den Lounge," says Antoniak. "This restaurant has become popular not only with golf course users but with a wide variety of residents who enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the general ambience. This year we are delighted to reopen the Lounge to the community and welcome everyone to a new experience."
