I find that the holiday season always sneaks up on me. Summer flies by in a rush of big events, patio parties and of course the beautiful long evenings finished with stunning northern lights and sunsets. Fort McMurray fall has never been dull, with the business of trade shows, back to school and charity fundraisers. Then all of a sudden, the temperatures drop and the store shelves start featuring glittery ornaments and tinsel. Well maybe not so much tinsel these days, but certainly, Christmas merchandise is in vast supply all over town!

Not that Christmas is a bad thing. With the season come lots of fun activities for the whole family and lots of great memories to be made. Our city never ceases to disappoint, with crisp winter days to match the ambience of the candlelight, great social events to attend, and no end to the holiday shopping destinations to find the perfect gift.

Here at YMM, the holiday season comes with our favourite publication of the year – the special edition Holiday Guide you’re about to read. In this year’s guide, be sure to check out our annual gift guide that gives you some tips and tricks on where to find the best gifts at some local favourites on page 8. Mike Jones, local radio host from Country 93.3 gives you some suggestions for the music to help set the right tone on page 15. This edition is packed with much more that we hope helps inspire you this holiday season! Be sure to send us a note with your favourite.

From our team to yours, and certainly from my family, and myself we wish you a very joyful Christmas and holiday season!
