Tucked away on an island off full of luscious green is where Miskanaw Golf Course sits. It’s tagged as the community’s “classic treasure,” as the golf course is one of the founding amenities of MacDonald Island Park, dating its origins back to 1966.

With its rich history, and once sandy-greens, Miskanaw was only a course with a clubhouse in its early beginnings. However, in 2015, it celebrated the completion of a redesigned by Robert Kains Golf Course Architecture, and this redevelopment helped the course extend to great lengths to become one of Alberta’s premier golf courses.

Today, it features a range of challenging holes on an 18-hole course, as well as a driving range with 30 tee boxes, and a golf simulator. As for the golf team, Jason Vaughan is the director of golf for the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo, and Chris McKenzie is the head golf professional. Both are members of PGA Canada and come with a long list of accolades in golf.

Another exceptional addition to Miskanaw is its Fox Den Grill & Patio. The restaurant attracts golfers and other MacIsland visitors. Its patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a view of the course's 18th hole at any time of the day.
