The Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre is a place of self-expression and creativity. It’s a special somewhere that unites actors and audience together as they escape on a theatrical journey of storytelling.

The theatre has been showcasing local productions for the Fort McMurray community since 1980. It all started with a trial production with the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Come August, West Side Story, directed by Dick Mells, was the first official play produced on Keyano’s stage.

Progressing during a time Fort McMurray still held a ‘Boomtown’ nickname, the theatre put the local arts community on the map as it attracted new talents who have turned into the city’s finest performers. With thousands of local volunteers taking part in a variety of tasks, over 180 plays have been produced in the past four decades.

Fast-forward through 40 seasons of beloved acts, the award-winning theatre is one of Fort McMurray’s favourite entertainment landmarks.
