Seven and a half years ago, Fort McMurray had a man come into the city with a “comiconical” perspective and a game-ready attitude to capture its residents in a way similar to the characters found on the streets of Gotham City or a Blade Runner setting.

If you’ve seen the talent behind the works of Gammazaki Media, you’ll recognize the comic book references as the owner of the local visual arts media company Matt Salem has a style of photography to attract all those who like to dress up.

Costume or not, Matt knows how to get serious when it comes to putting projects together, many of which have led his work from computer screens to theatre screens. His involvement with Nerdvana – The Web Series, a TELUS STORYHIVE project and the commercial video of FuseSocial’s #TELUSwhy campaign are just a few of his recent collaborated productions.

In the community, Matt volunteers on the Arts Council of Wood Buffalo board as the Director of Video/Filmmaking/Photography and manages the Fort McMurray Gamers Facebook page, which was launched to bring local gamers together to swap video games, share tips and have discussions on the latest game trends. The group has over 5,700 members.
