Keegan Kuhr

Age: 31

Keegan Kuhr has called Fort McMurray home since before he was able to speak, having moved here at just six months old. Today, he is the Head Men’s Volleyball Coach and Be Fit For Life Coordinator at Keyano College.

A graduate of Keyano College himself, Kuhr is a true alum of the region, having also attended St. Anne’s School and Father Patrick Mercredi High School. He was a multi-sport athlete growing up, and a huge supporter of Fort McMurray.

His still has fond memories of building tree-forts here, and counts Birchwood Trails among his favourite places in the region, and the thing he misses most when he travels.

It’s no wonder Fort McMurray and the community here mean so much to Keegan: “I am the person I am because of all the people I have met here.”

He considers the region to have “the most supportive community ever,” and he strives to be an active part of that community. Keegan and the Keyano Men’s Volleyball Team volunteer within the community whenever they are needed, striving always to leave things better than they were found.

Fort McMurray’s outdoors are a particular favourite of Keegan’s. In the summer, he enjoys biking on the beautiful trails and floating along the rivers. As for our famously chilly winters, “I love it,” he said, as it has the perfect conditions for snowboarding.

What’s one thing you’re really good at? “Caring for others, or just listening to people.”
