Alexandra Anceriz Denvir

Age: 31

Alexandra Anceriz Denvir travelled to over 35 countries, claimed a provincial title in wrestling and provided massage therapy to a team of competing firefighters – all before her thirtieth birthday.

Denvir is the owner of La Petite Maison, a registered massage therapy business based out of Fort McMurray, and also works as a massage therapist at the Fort Chipewyan Hospital.

Although she’s still fairly new to the community having moved in 2016, the adventurous globetrotter is an incredible asset to the Wood Buffalo region for optimizing the health of residents through massage therapy and holistic practices.

“Being part of this community means being part of something bigger than myself,” she said.

Rewind to when Denvir first got bitten by the travel bug, she was a young girl growing up in Mississauga, Ontario. In high school, she was an all-star athlete, winning a provincial championship title in wrestling.

After an invitation to join a Junior Olympic Wrestling Camp, she decided to alter her path and took a solo trip to Australia at age 17. By the time she was 25, she had travelled over to 26 countries, including New Zealand, Europe and India.

Following five months in India, Denvir enrolled in classes at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Toronto, which she completed with honours along with a scholarship and humanity prize. She then made her way to Fort McMurray.

“I moved to Fort McMurray for work and began my career at Achieve Wellness Spa in October of 2016. Shortly after this, I began to do home call appointments,” she said. “I was also fortunate enough to work with the Men’s FireFit team and travel with them to both the Provincials and the Nationals.”

In 2019, Denvir completed her 300-hour yoga teacher training at Shari Dale’s Yoga Temple Yoga Teacher Training School. And now, she teaches the anatomy section of the 200-hour course. Her latest travel was to Denmark to compete in the World Massage Championships.

What’s one thing that you are really good at? “Singing off key.”
