Colleen Stewart

Age: 48

Colleen Stewart is proof that a welcoming personality comes naturally to kind-hearted people, and many avid local golfers can attest to it.

As the Fort McMurray Golf Club Tournament & Events Director, Stewart has been working in the front of the house and behind-the-scenes on the green for several years now. She has watched the Club go from a small 18-hole business into a 27-hole facility.

Her roots in the hospitality industry started in her early 20s after she left Ontario and made her way out to the mountains in Banff and Lake Louise. Here, she worked at the ski resorts.

“I worked, played, and interacted with so many amazing people from all around the world that have helped shape my career and whole life,” Stewart said. “I moved to Fort McMurray years later where I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not a tiny town but a vibrant community with people from all over the world, as well.”

In the community, Stewart is actively involved in many of the Wood Buffalo region’s social profit plans when hosting golf tournament fundraisers. She has also volunteered with the RMWB’s Winter Games on the VIP Hospitality Committee, as well as the Fort McMurray Food Festival Planning Committee.

“People are my passion and fostering such positive, personal business and community relationships and connections, I feel are what I contribute to the well-being and enjoyment to those living, working and playing within the Wood Buffalo region,” she shared.

On her days off, Stewart enjoys spending time with her son six-year-old son, Finn. Her favourite Fort McMurray memory was when he was born at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre.

“I am so proud to call Fort McMurray home and am thankful for all the amazing opportunities offered here, the countless incredible people and dear friends that I have met along the way.”

What’s the best way to spend a day off in the Wood Buffalo region? “Golfing at the Fort McMurray Golf Club – of course, and enjoying the best patio in town!”
