Anna Seinen lives by the motto “If you do good things, good things will happen.”
As the Advisor of Community Relations for Suncor Energy Inc., this country girl grew up on a hobby farm in Ontario. It’s where she developed her love for animals and nature. By grade one, she moved to the city with her mother, after her parents separated.
“I was raised by my big-hearted mom with much influence from my headstrong grandmother,” she said. “I have lived through many experiences both good and bad that have only made me a stronger and a more compassionate human being.”
Anna shares this compassion with many social profit organizations. From being on the board of the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation (WBCF) to co-chairing of the WBCF’s grant committee, she is also on The Collaboration Steering Committee for WBCF, United Way of Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo, and FuseSocial.
She is the co-chair on the Wood Buffalo Social Sustainability Plan Stewardship Committee, on the Advisory Committee for the 2019 Canadian Index of Wellbeing Survey, on the Advisory Committee for ConvergenceYMM, and is a co-organizer of the Wood Buffalo Community Investment Coffee Group.
“I am part of this community. It is home to me. The first time I really realized that was coming home after the 2016 Wildfire,” she said.
“This is home. Wood Buffalo gets a bad rap in the media, but it is not that at all. It’s a great place to raise your family. It is important to me to give back to this community and support it fully. I am so thankful that I get to do that through my work at Suncor and volunteering in my personal time.”
