TYRAN AULT

(2 votes)

“My favourite thing about Fort McMurray is the people. It’s such a diverse, passionate and talented community.”

Never has a star been born so quickly or shone so brightly. Tyran Ault is a former member of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Council. In his one term, he seemed – at times – to be a voice of reason among sometimes warring factions, and it was beginning to look like if he ran for Mayor he’d make it an interesting campaign.

It was not to be, unfortunately, and by the time you read this Tyran will have moved on with his company to Calgary. After 27 years in the community, it will be a lesser place for his absence.

Tyran was on MACOY, the Mayor’s Council on Youth, when Guy Boutilier was Mayor. He has an honourable YMM resume, as a graduate from Composite High, Keyano College, then a B.A. at the University of Lethbridge, before studying Radio at the Western Academy of Broadcasting. He then came home and ended up the afternoon show host on Mix 103.7 before working for the RMWB and then Suncor.

During his time as a councillor, he became known as the guy who cared and quite often he set the moral tone for the rest of council. He was the first to refuse the pay raise the councillors voted in and he often was seen as the. Tyran cared about the community and the picture of how we were portrayed. He was on the board of Fort McMurray Tourism, went through the Leadership Wood Buffalo Program and then went back to serve on the board, and has done his best through the years to represent YMM with dignity and pride. However, we know this place will always be his home and we expect him to come back often.
