le Dîner en Blanc Returns to Fort McMurray in June
Following an exciting inaugural event in August of last year, Diner en Blanc – Fort McMurray returns in June 2016. Driven by hosts, Denise Hildebrand, Dawn Sidoroff and Heather Dancey with their enthusiasm and passion for the event, their primary goal in bringing Dîner en Blanc to Fort McMurray is to enjoy an elegant night in one of Fort McMurray’s naturally beautiful sites in good company.
Last year’s event saw a head-to-toe dressed in white crowd trailing table, chairs, and gourmet meal set up for a ‘très chic’ pop-up picnic at Marine Park. Location, as tradition dictates, was kept secret until the very last minute. Guests were treated to a performance by local Opera Singer Cara Brown, and the talented Dan Gillies and Mike Durocher of A Touch of Class, the evening was capped with the lighting of sparklers which officially began the final part of our evening: the dance!
Le Dîner en Blanc, born nearly 30 years ago in Paris, is now celebrated in over 60 cities around the world, and across Canada with more than 15 cities taking part in this global phenomenon. The original essence of the event remains friendship, elegance and gallantry.
The day of the event coach buses are dispatched to locations around our city, where guests gather dressed in white anxiously awaiting the magic to begin with the announcement of the secret location and the fun of enjoying what some have been waiting a year to attend!
Where will it be held in 2016? Good question! We are keeping that to ourselves. The secret will be disclosed only at the last minute.
