Culinary Scene Thrives in Fort McMurray

(1 Vote)

When it comes to the culinary scene in Alberta, Fort McMurray has quickly become the place to be. As one of the tastiest secrets in the province, our region has a diverse, innovative, and decadent offering that one needs to experience in order to fully appreciate.

Fort McMurray Tourism is working in partnership with The Wood Buffalo Federation of Cooks & Chef’s and ACTA (Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance) to start promoting Northern Alberta’s thriving culinary scene.  Also, another event to look forward to is the Taste of Fort McMurray, which will be taking place this winter at MacDonald Island Park and showcases all of our local culinary talent.

For many years the people who call Fort McMurray home have known that our region has so much to offer, but thanks to the recent time spent in the spotlight, in large part due to events such as the CFL’s Northern Kickoff and the Western Canada Summer Games 2015, more and more people are discovering all that our region has to offer, including these four culinary gems:

Diner en Blanc

This global phenomenon is considered the world’s first viral gastronomy event. A mass chic picnic, it takes place in some of the most beautiful spaces around the world...including Fort McMurray!

It started 25 years ago in Paris, France; today, it attracts nearly 15,000 people each year in Paris alone!

Picture it: One magical evening under the stars, dining with friends in beautiful surroundings. Everyone dresses in white and enjoys etiquette and elegance in the most luxurious of picnics.

Valuing friendship, secrecy, elegance, gallantry, sharing, equality and community, Diner en Blanc sees guests spending weeks preparing their gourmet menu, equipment,  and their all-white attire for the evening.
