Letter From The Editor
The summer of 2014 was a life-changing one for me; I traveled to Newfoundland and married my best friend, Jason, officially merging our family with my beautiful step-children, Madison and Jayden. Weddings are a beautiful time when, for the only time in your life, all of your friends and family come together in one place to celebrate...and we sure did have a great time!
A lot of work goes into a wedding and it takes a small village to put it all together! And wow - are Jason and I ever blessed with incredible friends and family who helped us make our dreams come true. A special thanks to the Balsom Communications team who worked so very hard so I wouldn’t have to work so hard all summer! A much-needed break for the wedding and a honeymoon of a lifetime was fully enjoyed!
Now that fall is upon us it’s back to work and as all of you know - fall seems to be a very busy time for Fort McMurray. With the hustle and bustle of back-to-school, trade shows and special events, the time leading up to Christmas and the colder weather seems to fly by.
Fall is also the season of the Fort McMurray United Way annual campaign. This year the campaign goal is to raise $8-million to help support a wide variety of not-for-profit organizations in their efforts to build capacity in our community. This issue of YMM is dedicated to the countless volunteers and staff members who are working tirelessly everyday to create a better future for the residents of our region.
The team here at YMM hopes you enjoy reading and learning more, not just about the United Way of Fort McMurray, but some of our other hard-working not-for-profit organizations. If you have some free time you might even want to consider volunteering your time to help them out too!
