Letter from The Editor
2019 is the year we celebrate the fourth class of Top 50 under 50 recipients, and we couldn’t be more excited to share with you the stories of this creative, hard-working, dedicated, and inspiring group of individuals.
A lot of people ask me how we put together our list of recipients, and it’s not what most people believe. Every year we put a group of volunteer panelists into a room (11 to be exact) from all different networks, and ask them to debate and decide the Top 50. It’s not an exact science. Do we always get it 100% correct? No, but what we do end up with is a list of 50 extraordinary people (or teams) to celebrate! Sometimes I wish we could recognize 200 people so the process wouldn’t be as difficult! The good news is that we get to honour a new list next year!
Thank you to those who help make the decisions, and thank you to those who allow us to do it - our program partners, including our presenting partner this year - Bouchier Group, and Liam Properties and the East Coast Kitchen and Bar for hosting this year’s celebration event. This issue also marks the start of Volume 8 of Your McMurray Magazine, and we’re excited about what the year will bring for our team, and most especially our readers! We’re going back to publishing quarterly with four regular editions, as well as our newest publication led by editor-in-chief Dawn Booth - YMM PARENT. We’ll wrap up the year with two more special digital features including our annual Food and Entertainment Guide, a partnership with Fort McMurray Tourism, as well as our exciting newly created YMM Christmas Guide. In case you weren’t counting, that’s seven editions all for you - our readers - to help you get the most out of this amazing region we live in. We love telling the stories of the people who live, work and play here and we hope to continue to do that for years to come.
