Dîner en Blanc Fort McMurray
Be a part of this trés chic mass picnic when it returns in 2017!
This magical, secret pop-up picnic is returning Saturday, June 17th to Fort McMurray. Le Dîner en Blanc – Fort McMurray will be hosted in 2017 by Denise Hildebrand, Dawn Sidoroff, Amy MacKenzie and Carol McDermott. They are busy ensuring Fort McMurray is ready for the international event originally started in Paris nearly 30 years ago, to “wow” guests.
Le Dîner en Blanc is all about friends connecting for an enchanted evening under the stars! Decked out in their most elegant, fun and fabulous ‘white’ clothing, they will enjoy a delicious meal, local entertainment and plenty of dancing.
Unlike any other event, with Dîner en Blanc participants partake in the evening by bringing their own table, white chairs, white dishes, table cloth and table décor. Sound like fun? It is, ask any of the attendees from 2015.
Part of the excitement and the mystery of Le Dîner en Blanc is that it is held in locations kept secret until the very last minute. Where will it be this year? Answer to be known only on the 17th.
Registration to participate happens in three stages: Phase 1 is for members who attended the 2015 event; Phase 2 is for new members who are referred by Phase 1 attendees; Phase 3 is for people who signed up on the waiting list via the official website fortmcmurray.dinerenblanc.com/register. Note: guests must be 18 and over to attend.
Once again, Chartwells will be the caterer of choice offering five meal choices including gluten free and vegan. As Le Dîner en Blanc is a French concept, wine and Champagne are the preferred refreshments. Guests will be able to pre-purchase their selection via the e-store for pick up the night of the event. A fee of $100 plus GST is for two and covers transportation, entertainment, security, sound, lights and venue costs.
The evening begins at your departure point, where you meet the Dîner en Blanc volunteer and get on the chartered bus that will take guests to the secret location. Old friends and new friends will enjoy the evening together. As soon as guests arrive at the venue, a sea of white invades the location and busies itself with the set up of their tables. Once everyone is seated, the traditional napkin-waving signal is given to start the dinner and the evening.
Le Dîner en Blanc – Fort McMurray will host a few contests: best art of the table, best-dressed couple, best-dressed woman and best-dressed man.
