Summer is here and it’s time to get out of the house!
Hidden in a corner of downtown’s west end is the Borealis Park. Beat the heat on those long summer days in the water park complete with dumping buckets, water palm trees and water cannons. There’s beach volleyball, basketball and a skate park if you’re a little sporty. The Bob Lamb bandstand is the perfect to play some afternoon guitar. The walking trail around the pond is 500 meters and is also great if you like outdoor running.
Stop at Mitchells, grab your favourite sandwich and voila: You have an instant picnic in the park for one or two or the whole office. The grassy hills and all-day sun make it the perfect place for outdoor Yoga, right down to the knockout sunsets. The clubhouse located at the entrance houses the Justin Slade Youth Foundation. There’s lot of parking and a friendly police presence too, some on bikes, making this one the greatest parks in Fort McMurray. Located off Morrison Street near the Snye this is an easy gem to find.
