What YMM Loves!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR. EVERYWHERE. All of this love might make you swoon...or it might make you gag...but there’s no denying that it can be contagious. We don’t mean the state of being in love is contagious. But what we did find is that the minute you start talking about things you love, people are more than happy to chime in.

We asked you, our readers, what you love...when it comes to coffee in YMM, or pizza, burgers, or Chinese food, personal trainers, and barber shops. You all have a lot of love...and you spilled the beans in an overwhelming response. Here are the highlights of what some of you had to say:

COFFEE

Jo: “Clearwater Coffee inside Habitual Sports.”

Nick: “Mitchell’s downtown!”

Buffy: “Best is Havanas by far.”

Kayla: “Cherry Hill is my fave!”

Editor’s Pick: “I love business meetings at the new Starbucks downtown! The place gives Fort McMurray a new urban feel and reminds me of my university days in downtown Ottawa.”

PIZZA

Victoria: “Hu’s Pizza by far. You will not get any better in town.”

Barbara: “Brewbakers Pub in Abasand.”

Curtis: “Earl’s restaurant creates a Prawn & Pesto pizza that appeases the taste buds every time. Wish, though, that it was larger.”

Michael: “Hands down no questions asked..Petro-Can in Stone Creek. And no, I’m not kidding.”

Michael: “Donair pizza with pepperoni and extra pizza sauce. Don’t forget a little tub of sweet sauce. Jomaa’s!”

BURGERS

Dan: “Prime Burger at Prime. By far the best in town.”

Barbara: “International Yummy Burger was amazing. A close second would be the Bison Burger at Prime.”

Janeen: “Sawridge Burger.”

Natalie: “Earls Bronx Burger.”

Jo-Anna: “Miss B’s”.

CHINESE FOOD

Kimberley: “The one in Peter Pond Mall! Famous Wok?”

Donna: “Frontier Dining!”

Kevin: “Blue Diamond is awesome since the ownership change and reno.”

Editor’s Pick: When we’re looking to order in some chinese food we stop and grab a meal from the Hong Kong Eatery in Thickwood, next to The Blackhorse Pub.

PERSONAL TRAINERS

Melanie: “Kelly Acorn-Pollard, for sure.”

Mucharata: “Santo Bee from

Iron Camp Fitness.”

Ashley: “Raylene Leadbeater at HB Fitness.”

Ashley: “Seray Laa is the best personal trainer.”

Brandy: “Beata Bajdowska-Caha.”

HAIR SALON/BARBER SHOPS

Maria: “Megan at Spoiled Rotten. She is awesome...very talented stylist.”

Ederlyn: “Ellen of Technicuts on Moberly Crescent.”

Kim: Precy at Chatters!

Ben: “Gotta be Tommy Guns! Love the atmosphere and awesome staff!”

Khaled: “Sunny’s Salon...best of the best.”

Lucy: “Robyn at Razor’s Edge!”

Editor’s Pick: For me it’s Chatters Salon! Helen is an artist with my updo’s, Andrew takes care of me royally for my cut and colours and Precy keeps my eyebrows well-groomed!

GIFT SHOP

Erin: “Frames and More!’

Jeanne: “Habitual Sports.”

Susan: “People’s or Hallmark.”

Editor’s Pick: My personal faves for gift shopping have to be Dunvegan Gardens, the Heritage Park Gift Shop and The Final Touch. So many great local options to choose from - and I absolutely LOVE shopping!

AUTOMOTIVE GARAGE

Jacquie: “Shamrock.”

Barbara Ann: “OK Tire, downtown.”

Editor’s Pick: I always end up at MXC Offroad & Racing. The staff are super helpful and always go above and beyond in the service department.

BAR

Jeffery: “Best bar in town is the Black Horse.”

Abby: “Does Diggers still count?”

Michael: “More of a pub, but The Wood Buffalo Brewhouse is hands-down the best.”

Kristin: “Diggers, lol, forever in my heart.”

Jacquie: “Prime Social Kitchen.”

Ruby: “Vista Ridge!”

Cindi: “Wood Buffalo Brewing Co. Great food, great service, awesome atmosphere.”

Candice: “Keyano Theatre followed by drinks and appies at Original Joes.”

Editor’s Pick: We love to go to opening night at Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre! A great show with fabulous performances and it’s followed up with a kick-butt reception hosted by the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre. It’s a great place to spend quality time with Jason and see lots of our friends!
