From Fort McMurray to the Caribbean Islands… Tropical Adventures Await!

(1 Vote)

Fort McMurray recently welcomed a group of tourism experts from Jamaica, Cuba, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas, and Trinidad & Tobago, for the opportunity to promote their islands to the many people in our community who love to travel.

After first meeting with Mayor Melissa Blake, a seasoned traveler of Turks & Caicos, the group hosted a dinner and presentation at the Pantry Restaurant at the Merit Hotel. “The reaction from these guests was very welcoming,” shares Rosemarie Wilson, Tourism Promotions Executive from the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board – Canada. “This was the first time any Caribbean Islands had come to Fort McMurray.”

Following dinner, local travel agents, media and scuba diving club members were taken on a virtual tour of each of the Caribbean islands.

For anyone who visited Fort McMurray Tourism’s Spring Tradeshow, it was easy to spot the groups’ brightly-coloured booth where each expert was on hand to chat with attendees and share their excitement about the sunny vacation options. “We thought this would be an ideal situation to promote our islands to the many locals who love to travel,” says Wilson. “We were thrilled to get the reaction we did.”

The experts’ enthusiasm quickly rubbed off on the team at YMM Magazine, and we’re thrilled to be embarking on an adventure to the Caribbean this year!

She has always called Alberta home, and delights in the tales that come from there. In her free time, Kerri daydreams, rides bikes, goes on long walks, and cries over videos about dogs. She also donates her time to raising two pretty fantastic kids who call her "mom".
