Family Dates in YMM
More and more families are choosing to raise their families in Fort McMurray. And why not? This community is full of opportunities, programs, services and amenities...and FUN...for the whole family! We asked you, our readers, for some of your favourite family date ideas. As always, you didn’t disappoint! Here’s just some of what you had to say!
Hunting, camping, Oil Barons Hockey Games, biking on the Birchwood Trails. —Sheryl
Family trip to Burger King because of the play area. Family potluck with other families, make a theme of it for food and maybe decor. Kids play, adults socialize. Dunvegan gardens - go watch the fish listen to the water, then visit the bunnies, followed by a snack. Hopefully the kids fall asleep on way home and you can drive the long way and chat. —Colleen

Mac island, hiking, movie theater, sledding behind the hospital in winter, skating at some of the outdoor rinks, Skidoo or quadding days if you’ve got them, WinterPLAY festival, the Chateau Boo at Halloween, dunvegan gardens to get flowers in the spring. —April
My husband and I really enjoy taking our Littles to the movies! We play the “claw” game every time and spend ridiculous amounts of money on all the movie theatre snacks. Swedish berries just taste better while eating them in front of the big screen. —Dawn

Summer time we love camping! We fly kites, have fires, quad, look at the stars, play games, boating etc! Every day is a new “surprise”’Winter time we love our library time together with a board game, the tubing hill, skating, indoor park, swimming, sleigh rides,snuggling on the couch watching movies! So much to do always! Family time is quality time. —Tracey

Making a day out of heading to a local outdoor rink. Hot chocolate in thermoses, warm layers, walking there if possible. —Roxanne
