Boston Pizza: Teaming Up With The Community
Local sport has always been at the top of the list for when it comes to community involvement. They believe in the importance of building great relationships with teams and organizations, and want to be the destination for your team before or after the game. A few of their yearly local sponsors include youth sports, the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, and the slo-pitch league.
Over the past two years, Boston Pizza has teamed up with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons for the “Oil Baron for a Day” program. With minor hockey being such a huge part our community, this program is a great experience for families and youth as it gives our minor hockey players the opportunity to suit up with the Barons. Kids have the chance to win by dining at either location and entering their name into the draw, and a winner is chosen for every Saturday home game. The kids are given their very own Oil Barons Jersey and get to skate out on the ice with the team during the national anthem. The response from this program is always great from parents and players, the kids especially love being able to skate on the ice with some of their local hockey heroes.
With partnerships in minor baseball, minor hockey, and gymnastics, just to name a few, Boston Pizza takes a lot of pride in being able to help with the success of these organizations, and have their restaurants be a top destination for team parties and get-togethers. To help with the cost of youth sports in the community, Boston Pizza has just recently come up with their own “Team Menu”, set to debut this summer. The team menu offers specially priced menu items for local or out of town youth sports teams. BP wants to be able to help teams celebrate victories or get together for team bonding over a great meal, that fits every team’s budget. Also, to help with the cost for not only youth sports but adult as well, Boston Pizza has great fundraising options with an earnback program. This program is designed to keep Boston Pizza top of mind when looking to raise money. The concept is simple- eat at BP and earn. The more you eat the more you earn. A percentage of the sales is then donated back to the teams.
In the spring, we start to see all the baseball players come out to play, and for over 10 years now Boston Pizza has been helping sponsor the Slo-Pitch League. Slo-Pitch is a great way to get out in the community and meet new people while having lots of fun. Boston pizza likes to encourage a little friendly competition amongst the ball teams with in-store games and promotions. Playfully referred to as Base Chase, teams are rewarded for their frequent visits to Boston Pizza throughout the season. This year Boston Pizza is offering something a little extra on top of Base Chase, and will introduce the earnback program to all teams, where a portion of all bills collected by individual teams during ball season will be donated back to them. A little something to say thank you for making Boston Pizza their home base during the season.
Whether it is a pre-game carb up, a post-game celebration, or a team strategy session, the staff and management at Boston Pizza are always eager to help make these possible and fun for everyone involved. If you are involved in any type of sports in our community keep BP in mind when looking for a team headquarters or looking to host a fundraiser.
