We Love Oil Sands
On April 25, 2015 the Fort McMurray oil sands community came together and celebrated oil sands!
The WE LOVE OIL SANDS 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000 dance party was a smashing success! With over 800 people in attendance it was completely sold out!
Russell Thomas did a live painting of Dr Karl Clark; it was sold to Robert Vargo for $10,000. The proceeds of the art show went to HALOS; Doug Golosky donated $5,000 to HALOS as well!
Julio Florez sponsored 30 Speakers 30 Minutes 30 Reasons Why We Love Oil Sands. This was one of the highlights of the evening was a bit interesting because the provincial election was just around the corner, and every single candidate spoke . We made national news when the Globe and Mail reported positive communication; the article quoted that even the NDP wear “I love oil sands” T-shirts in Fort McMurray!
The food was incredible, the dance was amazing, and the energy of the people in our community shined. I would like to thank everybody for supporting Canada Action in our first gala function. Our community is constantly criticized with misinformation and hypocrisy, and I’m happy to see that our community has finally united to stand together to support a proper and honest discussion about oil sands, and the share the truth about our oil sands community.
Thank-you to everyone involved for making this event such a success!
