More Than Just A Radio Station: Powering Up with KAOS 91.1
In June 2007, KAOS 91.1 joined our region’s media with a strong vision of “Exposing Hope through Music, Talk and Action”, and it’s this vision for faith-based radio that has set them apart as more than just a radio station…KAOS 91.1 is an initiative.

With a passion for reaching, building and activating people to make a positive impact on the world, their objective is not only to entertain and inform, but to provide listeners with vital community resources that open doors to help, hope and life options. “We give help an address,” says Rick Kirschner, Executive Director of the station, “by featuring social service agencies and helping connect them to people in need of their services.”
This fun, relevant radio station focuses on positive messages and believes in community engagement which is reflected in their community initiatives and partnerships with education, business, social service, public health and religious sectors.
With featured artists that include U2, Michael W. Smith, Mark Schultz, David Crowder, Matthew West, Stellar Kart, Relient K., Hillsong, Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, Daughtry, Michael Bublé, Jack Johnson and more, just a few minutes of listening will remind you that the station offers a “family friendly guarantee”.
The East Coast Kitchen party, which features some of the best music from the Maritimes, the Oil Barons hockey broadcasts, Making Fort McMurray our Home – a multicultural program, and the Indie Spotlight are just some of the many local programs produced by local people.
In November 2014, King’s Kids Promotions – the registered Canadian charity which owns KAOS 91.1 – was granted the authority by the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to increase the effective radiating power of KAOS 91.1 in Fort McMurray from 37 to 40,000 watts, which means this great local programming will reach a wider audience.
Because King’s Kids Promotions is operated and controlled by citizens in Fort McMurray, KAOS 91.1 is hoping members of the community will help them reach their $350,000 Power UP with KAOS 91.1 fundraising goal.
