Events Wood Buffalo - Celtic Thunder: Rolling into the Mac
Wrapping up a busy summer event season with the YMM Canada Day and TransAlta interPLAY festivals, Events Wood Buffalo, together with Union Events, is excited bring Celtic Thunder’s latest show, Mythology, to Fort McMurray.
CELTIC THUNDER IS AN IRISH SINGING group made up of six incredible male voices. Named the Top World Music Artist twice by industry bible Billboard, Celtic Thunder’s six male soloists, Emmet Cahill, Keith Harkin, Ryan Kelly, George Donaldson, Neil Bryne and Colm Keegan perform both solo and ensemble numbers as they wow the crowd with a unique show that can’t be duplicated. The group is known for performing an eclectic mix of songs ranging from traditional Irish tunes to international hits such as The Boys are Back in Town and Sounds of Silence. They also have original compositions that they perform regularly including Voices and Hunter’s Moon.
Celtic Thunder producer and creator Sharon Browne’s live shows are recognized worldwide for the use of dramatic effects through lighting and choreography, as well as a stage set resembling an ancient stone pathway drawn from Celtic lore. Their latest show and the one they will be performing for Wood Buffalo residents, Mythology, presents the perfect blend of entertainment, ideology and Gaelic spirituality, while still providing a modern twist on the old Celtic storytelling tradition.
Alongside the six main vocalists, Mythology will also feature strings, guitars, percussion, whistles, pipes and much more in the eight-piece Celtic Thunder Band. The show is truly an “all-hands in” production as musical director David Munro also plays keyboards.
Mythology was released earlier this year on February 19 along with a companion DVD. Both the CD and DVD versions of Mythology continue to dominate the charts week after week.
This is Celtic Thunder’s 10th full-length album and 9th concert DVD as it incorporates the traditional emotive and dramatic traits the group brings, while allowing for a more modern feel at the same time. The group has also branched out into other areas, as they will set sails later this year for their inaugural Celtic Thunder Cruise. The entire cast of Celtic Thunder will perform at sea for their fans as they travel from Miami going to ports of call in Ochos Rios, Jamaica and the Grand Cayman. Taking place November 2-7, this will be a five day, five night trip as onboard fans will see the Celtic Thunder Mythology Show, The Best of Celtic Thunder and solo performances by several Celtic Thunder vocalists. All aboard!
