It is fitting for the home of the northern strong to host the Alberta Winter Games. Facing obstacles and hardships over the past couple of years, the community in the Wood Buffalo region has been a true champion, doing a tremendous job of putting together a premier sport event. Thank you to the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers for your efforts.

Albertans value the positive impact sport at all levels plays in building character, strengthening community, and making our lives better. I am impressed with the dedication to sport from our young athletes, and the commitment of their parents and coaches.

Congratulations to all our athletes competing in the 2018 Alberta Winter Games. I wish you the best of luck and hope you reach your goals and set new heights of athletic excellence.
