OFF

Shouldn’t new arrivals to our community just integrate? I mean aren’t we a melting pot?

ON

Unlike other countries that promote a “melting pot” of cultures, Canada encourages multicultural diversity, allowing new arrivals to our country to not only continue to celebrate their traditions and culture but share it with others to broaden our understanding and knowledge of the world.

OFF

Isn’t culture really just about art, dance and music?

ON

Culture is about all the things that make us unique, from our language and traditions to our art and music. Multiculturalism embraces and celebrates all of these aspects of our history and origin.

OFF

Multiculturalism damages national pride in Canada.

ON

Multiculturalism encourages pride in our culture of origin but also fosters the development of national pride and unity. We can celebrate both our nation of choice and our country of origin.

OFF

Doesn’t multiculturalism divide our community?

ON

Multiculturalism actually encourages people to work towards an understanding of other cultures and their origins. Far from being divisive it is about acceptance and celebration of cultures that may be different from our own but that contribute to the unique fabric of our community.

OFF

Why does it matter? Multiculturalism doesn’t benefit me.

ON

Multiculturalism benefits us all by developing pride and fostering a sense of belonging and community. It also fights racism and discrimination, which can only benefit us all – including you.
